General Information on State Government Contracts and Tendering

Around 16,500 government and non-government customers buy from our extensive range of products and services. Our state contracts are developed in partnership with sole suppliers or a panels of suppliers and are usually from three (3) to five (5) years.

Procurement opportunities with the NSW Government are published on the NSW Government tenders website. On this site you can self-register a profile and when procurement opportunities that match your profile are published you will receive a free email notification.

You can download a request for tender free of charge at NSW eTendering or contact us to be sent a copy by post (a fee may apply). Tenders are evaluated by committees and successful businesses are requested to sign an agreement to enter into a contract.

Products & services

Our suppliers provide high quality products and services to agencies across NSW and Australia. nswbuy currently engages with around 1,300 suppliers to achieve state contracts that benefit both agencies and suppliers.

As a supplier you can also register with smartbuy® to make your products and services available for online buying.

Complaints & management of contracts

NSW Procurement ensures you benefit from state contracts that are fair, transparent and assure probity. We are required by government to provide agencies with products and services at competitive prices. The State Contracts Control Board is a statutory board which reports to the Minister for Department of Services, Technology and Administration. The board monitors and advises on government procurement practice, authorises delegations and investigates and resolves complaints.

Complaints

Complaints about agency tenders are managed by the State Contracts Control Board chairperson. All industry should have the opportunity to be engaged as a supplier of state contracts. A business may make a complaint about being unnecessarily precluded from tendering or being penalised by contract terms. Information about making a complaint is included in newspaper advertisements for agency tenders.

Making a complaint

The State Contracts Control Board is revising its complaints handling procedure. Contact the SCCB's Secretary, 9372 8840, for more information.
