Claim and Dispute Resolution
Introduction
The objectives of the Disputes Resolution Unit are to:
- Be a centre of excellence in contract dispute management
- Develop strategies and systems for cost effective management by agencies of contractual claims and disputes
- Provide guidelines for analysis and resolution of contractual claims and issues
- Assist with contract administration issues to circumvent disputes
- Maintain probity and consistency in the prudent management of contractual issues
- Advise on dispute resolution strategies
- Act on behalf of the State in dispute resolution where prescribed under contracts (may also be on a fee for service basis)
- Monitor and assess disputes for feedback to improve standard contract forms and procedures

The Dispute Resolution Unit provides strategic advice on dispute resolution options and associated risks, and facilitates resolution processes. Support and management services for dispute resolution, using formal processes, are available on a fee for service basis.
